Custom 1969 Minneapolis kitchen remodel designed and built to increase space, provide more storage solutions, and match the current home design.

Homeowner Goals

After painting the entire interior of their home two months prior, our Minneapolis homeowner came back because they loved our work the first time around. With their custom-built 1969 home, they wanted to keep a custom, one-of-a-kind feel while incorporating modern updates and safety features. Modern code requirements and safety standards had to be met, and restructuring was required to meet the homeowners’ major goal of having a bigger look and feel to their space.

Challenges

The Homecare Remodeling team ran into a couple of unexpected challenges during the project. During the electrical work stage, the team discovered that many electrical components didn’t meet code requirements and needed to work with the homeowners to create a plan that solved this. Another challenge is that the countertops arrived with scratches and small damage that didn’t meet our quality standards.

Project Results

The Homecare team worked diligently to stay in contact with the family the moment problems appeared, so they could stick to the timeline. Our team came up with a plan to adjust the electrical wiring and keep it up to code. The damaged countertops were removed and repaired off-site before being reinstalled and given a final inspection by the project manager and homeowner. New white oak cabinets and oak hardwood floors were installed, the space was reconfigured for more room and storage, and the pre-existing baseboard was reinstalled to keep the nostalgic custom look.
